Lee Gwang-Sup
Abstract
There are many issues concerning adolescent but the most important issues is drug
abuse because the seriousness of drug abuse goes beyond legal reasons and threatens their health as well. There are many programs that deal with adolescent drug abuse but they seem to show some limitations. This is why adolescent drug abuse is increasing nowadays.
Social medicine is a part of medical science that studies and educates social, cultural aspects by combining social science and human studies. It differentiates itself from other bio-medical model in that it focuses on adolescent¡¯ promotion of health through biological, psychological, social, and cultural perspective. To use for adolescent drug abuse program development, we researched on legitimate drug abuse, high-risk group, addiction, and program conditions of college students.
As a result, high-risk group was 74.3%, drug abuse and addiction was 29.7%, however only
34.6% of the subjects experienced the program. Also, many factors that has to do with the change after the end of the program and the relationship with program host showed negative response.
With this in mind, we want to break away from the limitation of short-termed, fragmentary programs and proceed to a more professional and long lasting intervention through trust, respect, and intimacy between adolescent and curer to improve drug abuse treatment and prevention.
